need to by wireless router. Get N or not?

Hi all....

I'm having cable Internet hooked up at my house Sat. This is a "light" version of access that costs less... so speed probably wont be a barn buster or anything.

Having said that.... I've not kept up on the new protocols for wireless..... should one go ahead and pay premium dollars for an N router even if the laptop may not have an N capable receiver?

If yes.... what units can you recommend for good bang for buck?

I'm unemployed full time college student so cost is an issue.

802.11n is not even a standard and will buy you nothing unless everything is 802.11n. 802.11g is easily faster than a typical household Internet connection.

802.11n might be useful if you were going to stream video (or some other really high BW application) between devices attached to your wireless network. Otherwise it is of little value for you.
