Funnies with WET11 v2

The other week I was trying to install wireless customers using WET11's, and I was bitten by the rather strange configuration process.

Once I'd got an 11 to take its settings, it will run forever and a day with no problems: until that time, it refused to take its SSID. Each customer needed about an hour of fiddling, changing to ad-hoc mode, enabling WEP, setting shared mode, and physically power cycling the box before the wireless light lit up and all was working. With dusk at

16:00 in the UK at this time of year, and hour+ per customer is no joke.

Has anyone any insights as to exactly which hoops you need to jump thorugh to get a v2 WET11 to set up? If I knew what I'd done, I could save a lot of time and anxiety.

Thanks in adv, Andy Holyer, Hedgehog Broadband, Brighton UK.
