Fix for Marginal Wirelss Connection

This may be of interest to anyone whose wirless connection seems to come and go, despite good signal strength.

I was having problems with my computer reconnecting to the internet on startup. I have a WUSB54G network adapter and a WRT54G Router.

The technician had me do the following:

  1. Go to start at the lower left corner of the Windows XP Screen

  1. Select Run

  2. Type in services.msc

  1. This brings up a window with a list of Services

  2. Double click on "Wireless Zero Configuration" to enable it

  1. Check the "Service Status". If it is stopped, start it.

It turned out that for some reason, my "Wireless Zero Configuration" status was STOPPED. This caused my wireless interenet connection to connect most of the time, but it would sporadically fail. When I started the "Wireless Zero Configuration", the problem went away.

Hopefully this information will be useful to someone else.
