Connection speed problem

I have two Dell Latitude C500 laptops. One with a D-Link AirPlus G card, with a connection speed of 22 Mbps. I purchased a second D-Link AirPlus card, same model but newer version, for the other laptop. It only connects at 11 Mbps. Are there any settings that goven connection speeds that may need changing? Many thanks.

Are you using Ad-Hoc or Infrastructure mode. Do you have an access point or wireless router?

Peer-to-Peer (ad-hoc) networks are only supported up to 11Mbit/sec. There's no technical reason why one cannot go faster, but officially, it's 11Mbits/sec maximum.

Let's see, AirPlus G is a DLink trade name....

If you're not doing ad-hoc, or have furthur questions, kindly supply the model numbers of your cards and hardware versions.
