cannot send emails on USR8054 using Sympatico high speed

I am trying to get the US Robotics wireless router USR8054 to email the logs to an email address but haven't had any success so far.

I talked to the tech support of USR8054 and the guy said that his supervisor was able to get the emails from the router. I tried various things:

1) giving the full username for sympatico: snipped-for-privacy@sympatico.ca in the WAN settings. 2) giving the complete email address in the 'log settings' 3) using pop as well as smtp servers

But in all cases, I get 'email send failed' in the router logs.

I also called up sympatico (just to be thorough) but there seems to be no problem over there. I can send/receive emails from the sympatico account without any problems.

Anybody able to help in this? Or if somebody with USR8054 is able to send emails through their ISP's, could you explain what configurations you needed to do so?
