Any way (dreaming?) to add wi-fi to Verizon or other phones

I see a lot of phones out there and those that I like with a usable keyboard and are affordable do not have Wi-Fi. Of course the carriers want you to use their 1x, Edge, EVDO, etc.. networks for a pretty penny just to check email and look at a few web pages.

I currenlty have a Verizon phone. Cannot use T-Mobile in my area.

I like more of the phones with the slide out keyboard or perhaps the LG-9800-been reading reviews on

Also open to up and coming phones.

Is there an adapter sold out there that might convert a cell phone to accept wi-fi via proprietary cable or usb connection?

I know this may be a useless question since the OS would have to integrate it in it and there would perhaps need to some uncertified patch or use of some wi-fi SD card that works consistently.

THANKS FOR ANY INFO. Patty
