Two of the main things a DHCP server logs when it leases an IP to a client
is the MAC address and host name.

From the original post:

"The two main things a DHCP server records when you get an IP from it is
your host name and the MAC address of the network card you are connecting
from. This is identifying information that not all users want to leave
behind."

Why would anyone want identifying information for their wifi enabled cell
phone, PC, or wifi enabled iPod left when they can simply not leave this
information.

If privacy wasn't such a basic concern, women would all be walking around
with see through purses and all men would carry clear plastic briefcases.

Broken analogy, given that a MAC doesn't personally identify you.
