Win2K/XP VPN client for Linux or BSD gateway.

The first Shrew Soft VPN Client 1.1 Beta Release is now available for download. Changes include support for Split DNS, Dead Peer Detection, improved dialup networking support, improved virtual device management and many bug fixes and documentation updates. As usual, thanks to everyone who tested this release and submitted bug reports.

This client software is freeware. When coupled with a VPN gateway running ipsec-tools, it can be used as an alternative to expensive commercial solutions that support win32 clients. While this software does include advanced features such as Split DNS, Nat Traversal, IKE Fragmentation, Packet Pre Fragmentation, Hybrid XAuth and automatic client configuration, it is still missing some options that are available in the more popular commercial products. For example, if your remote access needs include support for VPN enabled MS domain login or stateful client side firewall, this software may not be a good fit for your environment.
