vs4000 auto answer

Should the vs4000 have a mode in which it auto-answers the analog phone line? We find that we can "pick up" the phone by pressing the center button on the remote, but that interupts the meeting in progress. We'd like the Polycom to pick up for us, if possible on the first ring. There is an option in the phone menu for "mute on auto-answer" implies there is an auto-answer mode, and which we have disabled, but we can't find any menu choice to turn auto-answer on.
