Too many jobs - not enough graduates!

Hi

I'm an instructor at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, Alberta and we are in a unique situation where we have too many job offers and not enough students to fill them for our Telecommunication Technology and Broadcast Electronics Technology programs.

In Dec 2004, we had 11 Telecommunication graduates and over 80 employment opportunities available. This April, we have 25 graduates and another 47 employment opportunities available. In Alberta, the starting wage for our Telecom graduates is typically $22.00/hr and higher.

The Broadcast Technology program (the only one in North America) is in a similar situation where we have 2 employment opportunities for each student. We have requests coming from all over Canada and North America for our graduates. The starting wage for Broadcast Technology graduates is between $35,000 - $45,000 per year.
