Subset replacement

Has anyone used a 2500-style network and ringer to replace a subset for an antique phone? I found a 202 with F1 handset and 5H Northern Electric dial sitting on the shelf and it's got my curiosity up.

Following schematics (mostly WE) from the web and using the appropriately marked connections (L1, L2, R and GN) on the 2500 (Stromberg) network yield no results. Of course the 2500 network doesn't have a BK terminal, but I've tried connecting the BK from the dial both directly to the C and also through a 2mfd electrolytic.

This phone has a 2 wire handset cord, while all the diagrams I've seen show 3-wire. I've taken a 2500 handset and connected one side of the receiver to the red wire of the transmitter on the dial without luck also.

Thanks for any help!
