Resurrected 424 system, rehabed C/D processor, Rev 4.3. Mix and match
of self programming, and consultant.

Consultant did *all* PRI programming. He is sure its solid. Separate
programmer, separate company has looked at it as well, and agrees
programming is solid.

Totally stumped. One card, works fine in each slot, with one active
PRI in whole system.

Does not follow card. Both cards work fine when swapped.

Other PRI works fine, in either slot. See above, both cards work fine
in either location.

when Both are active together, and the second PRI is unbusied out,
(trunks re-activated etc), then either it takes no calls at all, or
crashes the system althogether.

So far, we have brought a Bert Tester (2000 series with full PRI
decoding), and the second PRI seems clean. We couldn't interrupt the
working circuit during business hours, so that will have to wait to an
after hours test.

Suspictions: The carrier, is "sharing" the D channel, across the two
PRI's. We do have about 200 DID's active. They won't admit to it.
Maybe its the DID's spread across both PRI's.

Another suspicion. The CLEC is taking circuits from the LEC, but
between one of 4 hops, they are changing formats, and then resetting
formats back again. Bit stuffing and Bit stripping, have (rumor has
it) played hell with DK PRIs in the past. The carrier is in the Blame
game at this point, so they won't admit to anything wrong on their end.

Suggestions appreciated...

Carrier is unfamiliar with the PRI card for the DK series.

I haven't touched a DK PRI in years, but I have a vague recollection
that early PRI cards that came out had a problem with the processor chip
on them that would cause 'unusual' problems. Don't remember any of the
specifics, but compare the two cards to see if their control chip and
software are the same version.

Take care,
Rich
