Please log in for more thread options Mitel 5220 voip phone. When powering down the laptop it also shuts off the phone. Other Tseries laptops connected to the 5220 work properly, the T61 connected to a Mitel 5330 works well. We have checked network card settings etc but cannot find a resolution to this issue. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Wild guess - but is there anyway that your laptop is sending some kind of a signal to the switch that it is powering off and the PoE port is shutting down because of that?

Could I ask what LAN switches you are using? we have experienced the same problem using Lenovo x61 laptops and M57 desktops. connected to a Mitel 5220 single mode phone, and then to a Cisco WS-X6148-RJ45v module using Power over Ethernet. we have found that the issue happens when the PC is connected to the mains power but shut down. the phone will then loose power every 10 seconds or so. however if you remove the mains power from the laptop, or boot the laptop up the phone is stable. one work around we have used is to boot the laptop up before docking it. we have found that using a later model of phone or cisco LAN module also seems to stop the problem happening. also if you use a mains adaptor to power the phone and not POE it seem to work ok. -- ##-----------------------------------------------## Telecom Discussions at http://www.telecom-gear.com/ no-spam access to your favorite newsgroup - comp.dcom.telecom.tech - 3697 messages and counting! ##-----------------------------------------------##
