Please log in for more thread options We were told by Alltel that they could not re-activate any of our old phones because they did not have GPS for the E911. The ones we have are Motorola V.60 phones not antiques. They said it is a new Federal law. So don't plan on using older phones for much of anything. (I believed 'em so we have a rack of new Razors on the way) Older phones that are already activated are grandfathered in but you can't change the number or anything. Please log in for more thread options I don't believe that the law specificly says that they cannot activate older phones. As far as I know, it requires the carriers to ensure that a certain percentage of phones are E911 enabled, either by use of GPS, or by network based technology, enabling the location of the phone to within a certain number of feet. It also requires that all new activations after a certain date to be E911 enabled, which appears to be interpreted as new phones sold by the carrier thru it's distributors. >
