Please log in for more thread options Use a pay phone. The 800- type number owner has to pay for the calls, and gets the calling number via ANI, either in real time or when the bill comes. You and I, if we do not have such 800- type services, get the calling number from CNID, a different and much less reliable service/protocol. Simplified, but Googling at ANI and CNID should give as much info as one should need. -- Paul | |||||||||||||

You can also buy a phone card from one of the lesser LD companies... Many of them do not pass the calling number through. You lose the "free" part of the 800 call of course. | |||||||||||||
