A CenturyLink phone outage has impacted Halifax County residents' ability to call 9-1-1.
Steve Dishman, the county's Emergency Services Coordinator, is giving people an alternate number to call in the event of an emergency. He said citizens should call 434-575-4292, which is the number for the South Boston Fire Department, in the event of an emergency until the problem has been fixed.
