Superior Court Judge Jack Panella struck a blow for legal sanity this week as he tapped the brakes on a bad 2016 state Supreme Court precedent that has effectively allowed corrupt politicians who rip off the taxpayers to get out of paying restitution for their misdeeds.

As PennLive's Matt Miller's reports, Panella denied an appeal filed by

64-year-old Beverly Steffey, of Kittanning, Pa., who was convicted of stealing nearly $220,000 from three nonprofit groups in Armstrong County.
