In the 1950s, AT&T (Bell System) contributed toward building a network of radar stations in the far north.

Many thanks for posting the links. My dad was with WECO and heavily involved with the DEW line and BMEWS. It was good training for him because he eventually became the WECO Project Manager for building the Mercury Communications Network.
