A construction company working on the Route 29 Solutions project said miscommunication was to blame for a broken CenturyLink service cable. On Monday, phone and Internet services for parts of the Charlottesville region were interrupted after a crew with Lane-Corman accidentally cut an underground cable near U.S. 29 and Rio Road that carries telephone and data for CenturyLink customers.
On Friday, the company said that there was a miscommunication in identifying abandoned utilities. The company said it has implemented a process to prevent a similar incident from recurring.
