CenturyLink Taps LGS Tech for Work on DoD High-Speed Network

by Elizabeth Leigh

TYSONS CORNER, VA June 9, 2015 - CenturyLink has enlisted LGS Innovations to help upgrade the Defense Department's high-speed fiber optic network that connects five Pentagon facilities with supercomputing requirements.

CenturyLink said Monday it expects updates to DREN to enable the five computer labs to receive speeds of up to 40 gigabits per second.

Tim Meehan, senior vice president and general manager at CenturyLink Government, reiterated the company's commitment as prime contractor to provide DoD engineers, scientists and researchers the support they need through the project, which he said should help "accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation networking technologies that are critical to America's national security."
