System Sensor date codes???

Does anyone know if the smokes from System Sensor have date codes on them?

I have a couple 2012A's and a couple 2012HA's here that are destined for the garbage.

Just curious to see how old they are first.

Yes. The date code is printed on the product name plate on the back of the unit. It's a 4-digit code located to the left of the longer of the two bar codes. The first digit represents the year of manufacture. The next two are the month and the last is the week number (from 1 to 5) within that month. Thus 9061 would mean the detector was made in the first week of June, 1999 (not 2009 since that model is discontinued).

That may be helpful... or it may not in this case.

On both of the 2012A's, there's a code on the right of the shorter bar code (5113 and 6022), so those would make sense. But is it 1995/6 or 2005/6?

On both of the 2012HA's on the other hand, the codes are identical to eachother... the code to the left of the barcodes is 10274, between the barcodes is 110446 and on the right is 372.

Really... why not just put the date on them?

You need to know when the 2012A was discontinued to be certain. I don't recall but I think it was prior to 2005. My best guess is the unit is really old. Short of calling System Sensor, consider the condition / color of the plastic housing. After a few years the older ones tended to yellow a bit.

No clue. I never used that model.

That would be too simple.
