Need help from the "masters" ;-) i do not have experience in Napco download and yesterday i tried to dl an xp600 using Napco's quickloader. First of all i didnt find a csid code so i believe tha it must be the same with the installers (dealer) code? My second question is about the procedure. The panel answered the call the modem (USR sportster 33.6 fax modem) connected but it cannot continue and i get messages form quickloader to check connections, etc... My question is if i have to use simultaneously with Quickloader the PcPreset software in order to complete the download or if i have to press a combination of keys in napco's keypad the time that panel answers tha pc call... i am a little confused :-/ tks in advance spyros
If you have the wrong code it will say so on screen when you try to connect. I'll try to help you with this... Read on...
Set the modem to remain audible the whole time. That way you can hear when the panel disconncets from the line. Try connecting again and let us know what happens. With that information I or one of the others here will be able to help you.
You do not need PC Preset at all. That's for doing batches of panels. Dealers use it when they have to make changes to a whole series of panels.
Modem has connected Obtaining panel type Communication retry - Continuing Communication retry - Continuing Communication retry - Continuing OK Modem Communication Completed Panel did not respond in time.
There is nothing else in the line. I did the download in my lab. I set up the modem from the modem setup menu. Today i'll try another new one XP600 panel to find out if it was a panel's problem.
And you are sure that modem is on the approved modem list. Then it just leaves the panel I guess. I dunno. I've been using the old Cardinals for years and they work great for me.
Or i do a mistake in the procedure. What i'm doing is: i open a new account. i.e. for napco xp600. i insert in the field with codes the dealer and the master code that i'm using in the panel and call the panel using ring count method. The panel answers the call but while trying to obtain the panel type it disconnects...
With ademco cia and cardinal settings (i tried the settings from all 3 cardinal models) i get the error -no dial tone- ... I'll try with other brands :-/
Your problem might be the modem com port settings. Or it could be something in your computer preventing it from working right. Are you using a real com port? or a USB to serial com port? Is there anything sharing the same com port? It makes a big difference.
No its clear, its a clear and real com port, port1. I use only ademco cia on this port and works great with compass, dl900, espload and crow's uld8. This moment i use logmein from home to connect to my server pc in my office which the modem (cia) is installed and i don't know exactly (cause i cannot hear the dial) what's going on. I'll try tommorow to do the dl directly from my office to hear the dial tones on ademco cia. Using logmein is very usefull cause where ever i am i can do dl to a wide range of panels using only my lap and a broadband connection, but sometimes like this moment i can not understand 100% what's going on....
Never say with a few words what you can say with a thousand.
Holy shit. What the hell was that all about?
What I said was:
I don't know if it's been established whether he's got a telephone handset on the same telephone line that he's trying to download on. After contact is made with the panel, he's got to pick up the handset and leave the telephone line open all the while he's in communication with the panel. If the line isn't open, the panel will hang up even though the downloader program is open and trying to communicate.
Dear Jim, to be honest i didn't knew that. Why that on Napco? All other dl softwares and panels as you know do not need that. In that way you cannot download if there isn't anyother in the panel's premises...
