Jim & Bob

Throwing red meat on the table at Thanksgiving isn't the thing to do I suppose. However being 'tasked' so to speak by Jim to read more of the RLB love fest I went to this site he pointed to. Well there was something there from 2000 I think. There was this long diatribe and stuffed in there was a quote that I almost overlooked at first. The whole thing seemed to be more or less cut and paste job from a few thesauri. When I read it I thought it had some great stuff in there from where ever he did the cut and paste. But now I wonder, especially when I think of the one quote in there that was something like "sheep would not have sex with you." Certainly strikes the funny bone at first. But then one can over think it. Do sheep have sex with humans to show respect? How exactly would one come to that knowledge or conclusion? Could one become fluent in the sheep dialect from regular congress with sheep? Is it from hanging out at the sheep brothel and overhearing gossip betwwen the sheep and the patrons? Is it pillow talk? And how does that all not boomerang back? Is it kind of like saying "I am a great guy and therefore I can have all the sex with sheep I want anytime, but you are rotten and so they won't put out for you"? And just how does a sheep pick the good guys wanting sex with sheep from the bad guys wanting the same thing? I am not sure many folks would like to be put to the test to see if a sheep's ass would be available to him and thus feel he is a pretty decent fellow. And is the sheep's ass offer good enough or does the sheep have to go all the way to know for sure? Would you need to have a sex tape for proof? And what would prevent someone from seeing the tape and saying the sheep was faking it or just doing it for the money? Seems like an expert is needed. I can only guess who would be called an expert on the subject and why. Would political t-shirts appear with sayings like "Vote for me, a thousand sheep can't be wrong". So then political ads on TV would become scenes from a sheep ranch with various political hacks "boned up " with viagra humping every sheep in site? And what then would become of the politician's "staff"? Forget voting. Why count votes when you can count sheep? And what about a bad female politician? Would she make that Ram Dodge? Would the ASPCA approve? There is lot's to consider about this.

I don't know who the original author was but that's one of the more famous flames in Usenet history. It's been quoted and (presumably) modified by different posters over the years. I found it and posted it in honor of one of the nastier in dividuals in ASA several years ago. I'm not sure but I think it may have been directed at Michael Sabodish. I thought the whole thing (well, most of it anyway) wa pretty funny.

Actually this was something that someone sent to Bass. It was just a compilation of all the bad things anyone has ever said about him.

As far as the sheep thing goes, he's finally stopped. They actually were refusing him but he said he didn't stop because of that. He said he just couldn't find a good looking one in the lot of them. Apparently, recently, he found a good looking pig.

Once you cross from two legs to four I am sure a pig is as good as a sheep. Hopefully no one here actually knows for certain.

"quite"?? Don't you mean "quiet"? Your version of "pretty quiet" happens to include posting his BBB report every time he responds to someone in comp.home.automation. Yep... I'd say you're "pretty quite" alright...

What happened "several years ago"? And who really cares?

Did you Deny That You Wrote "THE TESTIMONY"? "The Testimony" by Robert L. Bass

I thought you might be interested to know that one of your competitors, Robert L Bass (me) of Bass Home Electronics, is also a born again Christian. I saw your post in the news group and decided to visit your site to see what you sell.

Actually, I was intending to check your prices since a prospective client had told me you charge less than I do on a couple of items. I wondered about the reason your company's name is "Alpha & Omega," since it is one of the names of God. Boy was I happy to find out!

I read your testimony and was glad to hear of the change Jesus has made in your life. I, too, have had a drastic turn-around in my life after meeting Jesus Christ.

In brief, I grew up in a loving home with good, honest parents. But I was always the rebel. I fought constantly with my brothers and sisters, the kids in school and most of all with any form of authority. By the end of seventh grade my parents could no longer control me. They sent me to a private school for troubled youth in New Hampshire. It cost all they had to ty to help me.

Soon I got into a fight and stabbed a classmate. I was 13 years old then. I spent the next four and a half years locked up, all the while building a rage inside me against everyone around me.

At age 17 I was released and came home to live with my family. In a few months I dropped out of the school my parents had enrolled me in, moved to Grenwich Village in New York City and joined the "hippy" scene. That was

1969. I spent the next 10 years on drugs, wandering around the country, in and out of jails on many felony charges.

I wrecked several cars, destroyed the lives of anyone who tried to help me and caused the death of an innocent woman in a car wreck in Missouri. Still I had no clue how to change my life.

In Florida my road to destruction finally came to the brink. Convicted of multiple felonies and facing many years in prison, I was about to go right down the drain forever. With the "winning" personality I had developed, I got in some fights in the jail as I awaited the sentence. I was charged as a "Habitual Felon" and faced 35 years to life. It was finally over...

And then God did a miracle. He sent a man into the jail all the way up to the solitary block where I was being kept due to fighting. This man brought the message that someone still cared about me. That there is a God and that He really loves me -- just as I am.

That night I got down and prayed an honest prayer of repentance for the first time in my life. I asked Jesus Christ to come into my life and to enable me to deal with the terrible prison sentence I was expecting. I didn't dare dream of ever being set free. I was certain I would not live 35 years in the Florida prison system. Too many other convicts hated me and wanted to see me dead.

But God had a plan for my life. A glorious plan of redemption, freedom and joy in the Holy Spirit! Three months later the judge allowed me to go to a Christian drug treatment facility in Hartford, CT. There I spent nearly two years, first as a student in the program and later as a volunteer staff member helping others learn to follow Jesus as I had.

Well it's been 18 years since I was set free from prison and 18 years since I was set free from the bonds of death and destruction that I had wrapped around my life. God has never failed me. Jesus has given me two wonderful children and a lovely wife. In fact, both of my boys have been called into missions. Praise God!

And just to show the world that Jesus can and does really change lives completely... He has given me a burglar alarm business. I was a thief and a con man. But Jesus has enabled me to protect the homes, lives and businesses of over a thousand people in Connecticut. And now He is helping me build a national security business over the Internet.

Sometimes I think God really has a great sense of humor, too. You see, some of the people whose homes I protect are judges, police officers and attorneys. Several good friends of mine are state police officers. Even a federal judge has entrusted me with his safety. I have key safes with about

300 keys to homes and businesses and God knows he had made me into a man who wouldn't even think of abusing that trust. Isn't He wonderful?

I will encourage you to never stop seeking Him. Keep sharing your testimony with anyone who will listen, my friend. And as God gives you opportunities to speak for His glory, you go right on and obey Him.

In His Service,

RLBass

So Bass at one time was much worse in his own eyes than you seem to think he is now. I my opinion we should all be gald that he is at least generating tax revenue instead of consuming it. I don't recall seeing anything in the post that says he claims he is perfect or that you are required to believe the way he does. He has the right to his own political views and religious views. Although the purpose of your post seems to be to point out some ironies in his behavior and that his posting is hypocritical at its core, there are other views out there. It seems another of your points is that he has also used his freedoms to make his own mistakes and make his own enemies, where he has been very sucessful in getting plenty in this NG apparently. On the other hand, perhaps someone other than you might have gotten something from the post you didn't and has a completely different view of it. I know some friends that are active in prison ministries. Although that is not my cup of tea, my friends seem to enjoy it, even when so much of their time is taken away by the project. My friends report that many times inmates lives show a change for what most would call the better, some very dramatic ones. I don't know about anyone else but I don't consider my own life to be without need of improvement in many areas. I am always glad to see change for the better in my own life and anyone else's.
