ad3: no response when one of two servers failed

Hello all I'm somewhat new to Alteons, though familiar with other load balancer(s). Here is my config: I have one virtual server (x.y.z.25), one real server group, and two real servers (real 1: .26,real 2: .27). If both real servers are up, things work fine, or at least seem to work well. Also, if .27 fails, things also seem to work well.

The problem is that, when real server 1 (.26), then I time out connecting to .25.

These are all webservers with health http; works the same way with or without content.

Any thoughts?

Would you mind to provide the configuraiton dump? This can help everyone understand the architecture and analyze what the problem is.

Good point :) I'm including config dump(s) as well as /info/sys/. I also note here than lb1 exhibits this behavior; lb2 does not. any help would be greatly appreciated. mickey

Basically, there is an obvious mistake on this configuration. There are

2 Alteon's on your site and you create VRRP for redundancy.

In addition, there are two different kind of virtual routers used for Alteon, one is VSR which stands for Vritual Server Router and another one is VIR which stands for Virtual Interface Router.

Base on your configuraiton, you only create one VIR for routing purpose but none of VSR for layer 4 load balance. You can use "/info/ip/vrrp" to check the status on both Alteon.

Except this, I can't know what exactly cuase this issue because I don't have the topology and physical links on your site.

I hope this can help you : )
