1120E IP phone

I have set up DHCP server with scopes for data vlan 401 (network

10.1.1.0 /22) and voice vlan 990 (network 172.30.1.0 / 22). The DHCP server is on the network 10.1.1.0 and it issues addresses OK to the PCs connected. The IP phones are straight "out of the box" & are not getting DHCP addresses - stops at "starting dhcp... " then "DHCP server unreachable". All devices are connected into a single switch. I have changed some of the settings such as the phone voice vlan number (instead of DHCP) but no better result. How I can fix this? Thanks, Ned

I get the same errors with new 1120's. Part of the problem is they new updated firmware.

To get the phones to work I make sure these settings are made. Once you get the settings correct, the new firmware from the SS will download and they come up fine.

Settings:

Uncheck Enable 802.1 (EAP) box Uncheck Enable 802.1ab (LLDP) box Set DHCP to FULL Uncheck Disable Voice 802.1Q Uncheck VLAN filter

I may have missed a setting or two. Try these and reboot the phone.

We use Cisco switches. Sometimes I need to put in the Vlan number on the smaller switches.

All the above assumes you have the scopes are setup correctly.
