Wiring in a Surge Protector

I've got a flat screen TV I want to mount on the wall. I'd like to plug it into a surge protector on the floor, but don't want to run wires down from the TV. How are most folks doing this? I know you're not suppose to run an extension cord behind the drywall, even if it's an inside wall that's not insulated.

Suggestions?

You can have an electrician (or you can do it if you know how to) install an outlet behind the TV. Hopefully, your set has a little room to get a small surge protector behind it. If not, maybe the electrician can give you some guidance on how to have surge protection in the wall for that new outlet.
