I get the cable to make my own ?

Re: Vidio Cables??

Hi Alan,
I would recommend going to Radio Shack and purchasing some ready
made cables.  The crimp tools and parts will set you back way more than
it's worth.  Get the midrange ones.

Re: Vidio Cables??

I went to Radio Shack last weekend to see what they had.  Unfortunately all
they stock now is monster cables.  Looks like even RS has sold out to the
over-priced "bling" market.  :(

Re: Vidio Cables??

Go with the S video cable and then get somemoderately priced audio

cables. Ofcourse this depends on howelaborate yousetup is. sometimes

these things need to be looked at up close and personal.

Re: Vidio Cables??

Assuming your DVD has component outputs - use those (RYG or whatever

they are labled on your machine) to the Component Input on the HDTV.

Then run a separate cable (optical or coaxial) from the digital audio

out of the dvd to your surround processor.

If you also want to listen thru the TV speakers (why?) you'll run a

pair of std RCA type from the audio out of the DVD to the audio in of

the TV that corresponds to the component input.

IMO: Any reasonable quality component cable should do fine. No reason

to get special "digital" cables. Bestbuy has cables from AR that I'm

using now and the picture is great. Less than $20 for 3 ft.

If your DVD has DVI or HDMI outputs (DVI is a rectangular plug with

multiple holes and a slot to one side - HDMI looks like a USB plug) use

one of those to the corresponding input on the HDTV. Those cables will

set you back $100. But it will be worth it.
