I think I've answered my own question but thought I'd verify:

I'd like to use my HDTV speakers as front center speaker for
surround sound.  I was thinking I could connect my receiver's
speaker output for the center front speaker to the audio
input of the HDTV.  Seems to me the HD Tv's audio input
has a 1v peak to peak limitation and this would likely harm
the input circuit of the HDTV or possibly blow the channel
driver out of the receiver.  That would be a bad idea, right?

I'd like so save the expense and space for a separate center
front speaker.  Any other ideas?

Your HDTV has "audio in" RCA type plug that can be used if your receiver

has "pre-out" connectors. Just run a cable from the center channel

pre-out to the audio in on the TV. The problem might be getting the TV

to recognize two input sources if your TV doesn't have the right setup:

one for your video source (DVD, Sat, Antenna, etc..) and one for the

audio. So depending on the TV inputs it's do-able.

List what type of TV you have and if your reciever has pre-outs and

I'll try to help.

Do not try to connect the reciever's center channel speaker wire to

anything on your TV. Smoke from the back of a TV is never a good thing.

I've a Hitachi 51UWX20B.  I've a Pioneer VSX-515.  I've not noticed
any preouts.

Thunder,

You're correct, your Pioneer does not have pre-outs. That makes it more

difficult.

What is the source going to be? DVD player, SAT dish, cable box? Send

me the model and I'll try to see if there's a way we can accomplish

what you wnat.

I'd like the sources to be the DVD and Cable Box.  I can get digital
from either and DTS from the DVD.

Thanks for the help, as I'm just now coming up on this stuff.
