Totally missing out on the only one that will have any long term effect,
population control.

Two children max for any woman who wants them, no exceptions. This is the
only way for us as a species to have any chance of long term survival, and
the sooner we start the better.

Tom (no children, never going to have any)

OK, Jim, father of four, Let's assume that you have it right and I'm
completely wrong. Have a look at

http://www.thepopulationproject.com/populationcalculator.php

And enter 3.5 children per couple (which is the highest figure you can
enter) and have a look at the population growth figures it gives.

10 billion by 2027
15 billion by 2047
20 billion by 2064
25 billion by 2074
30 billion by 2083

Roughly how many people do you think this planet can support? 10 billion?
20? I doubt it will ever get any higher than that before mass starvation
starts to wipe out the surplus. The less children that are born now, the
less will starve to death in the future.

So, as I made the conscious decision not to have any children, I have
cancelled out the surplus you have produced, for which you _should_ be
eternally grateful, or more to the point, your children should.
