I am currently running DOS 6 on an old 486 PC whose internal battery just
died so I figured it's a good time to replace the motherboard with a faster
one, but I want to continue running DOS and WIN 3.1. After replacing the
motherboard will this require a fresh install of my operating system or
can I just connect my harddrive to the new MOBO and expect it to boot up
fine?

Any suggestions on motherbaords would be great... its a Baby AT Case and the
dimensions of the motherboard is 330mm x 218mm with a current power supply
box of 5 volts at 20 amps.

Replace the battery for now, then start watching Ebay for used
motherboards. Motherboards that have drivers for Dos 6 and Win
3.1 haven't been made in years.

Ok thanks... I didn't realize that, I thought I would come out with a super
fast DOS machine if I upgraded

Well, you could get a new faster machine and run Dos and/or Win
3.1 as a virtual machine on it. A lot of money and bother for a
faster Dos machine though.
