I have a USB hard drive device, but no matter what hard drive I use, it
never shows up under My Computer. Even though when I click on the Task Bar
Icon that manages the USB Storage device it properly reads the type of hard
drive that I have inserted into the USB case. I also hear the beep whenever
I push in or out the USB connection wire from my laptops USB port.

Any ideas?

Hi,

What operating system are you running?

Also, does this laptop have USB2.0 ports, and is the port that you're
plugging the enclosure into USB2.0? Or, is it, maybe, USB1.1?

Also, when you go into Disk Management, have you tried to "Rescan disks"?

Jim

Well - thanks for your reply, the solution was to set the jumper as a dual
master instead of a master which is what the "excellent" directions original
told me to do.
