I just got a new maxell 1gb usb flash drive but when i plug it in it
automounts a cd drive with software to format the disk and a manual on it.
When i open the memory pen there appears to be nothing on it. I just want to
use the memory penas normal without it mounting a cd drive each time i
insert it. I have tried formatting the memory pen but to no avail. Can
anyone help?
Andrew

Read the manual it doesn't mention how to remove the auto mounted cd drive
feature just says about how to pasword protect your files etc and how to
access a secure area on the pen. There is no software with it other than the
software to format the pen and password protect it.

snipped some.

Daughter recently bought me a 4Gig Transcend one.
It came with a disc/software, that lets you format the
whole thing as a storage drive (nearly 4Gig).
Or alternately as a small (500Mg) bootable USB Hard
drive, and the rest as password protected storage.

Looks like yours has already got the bootable stuff on it.

Unless you can find more info at Maxell, there`s not
a lot I can do to advise you.
Except to say you could possibly re-format the whole
thing. ( not sure of course that it might be `special`).

bw..
