Please log in for more thread options Agena/Barcelona K8l/K10), which is better? The first package contains 2 GB of DDR2 with those nifty new Promos chips; they like high voltage, but I've never seen such low timings on DDR2 before: Timing 4-4-3-5 Voltage 2.0V - 2.1V Numerous reviews say these babies will clock beyond DDR2 1000 with tight timings (at 2.3V) Brand G.SKILL Model F2-6400CL4D-2GBHK Price for a pair of gigs: $150. G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231114 Price: $189.99 Sale Price: $149.99 ============== The second deal lets me buy twice as much RAM (4 GB) for about $165, albeit slower. CAS speed is listed as "5", so I'm guessing it's timed 5-5-5-15, but because it's Micron modules used by Crucial, voltage should be about 1.9V. Brand Crucial Model CT12864AA667 Crucial Technology Crucial 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) System Memory - OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146571 Original Price: $50.99 You Save: $10.00 $40.99 So, for a gaming, HTPC, audio/video-editing, folding, rendering, do-it- all box, which road would you take? 2 gigs of FAST RAM or 4 gigs of slightly slower RAM?

Sure, if you wanted to use 32 bit WinXP, or your jobs don't need over 2GB of memory but one of their bottlenecks is memory throughput. Odds are you will benefit more from 4GB in the long run,
