Running 10 cdrws what ata controller card shoudl I use

Please log in for more thread options wall... I picked up 10 cdrws case everything needed for the project. Picked up a 133ata controller card has raid on it. well when I hook up the cdrws to the ata controller card the system will not. but if I hook a hd up to the controller card and only a hd the system will boot and xp will see the drive everything is good but when I hook a cdrw up again it willnot boot... acts like it doesn't see the boot drive. now my question is could it be the controller card. Do i need one that doesn't have raid on it ... do I need something else. This was done on a budget and am trying to stay away from scsi. I dont' need to know about power issues that is covered.
