Please log in for more thread options 939 system for fire sale prices. It looks like I'll be running an Opty at multi 8 x 333 HTT on a ULi-powered ASrock dual eSATA mobo. Now, about the RAM, I'm torn between two choices: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231032 DDR400 2-3-2-5 with a 3:4 divider running at DDR500 speeds? How loose will the timings get? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231021 DDR500 3-4-3-8 with a 1:1 divider running at DDR666 speeds (is this even possible)? Google digs up some interesting articles about the timing/speed tradeoffs: http://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US...

Please log in for more thread options (Clock rate is king for benching. Gaming results on the next page are only about 2% better, so hardly worth the bother.) http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/memory/display/patriot-ddr700_8.html (Not all memory chips behave the same in overclock) http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/memory/display/2gb-roundup.html (Small differences in behavior between 512MB and 1GB sticks) http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2560&p=3 Paul

On the other hand it may well depreciate the value of better 939 boards making them a good deal for someone not looking to upgrade the system later by keeping same mobo.
