Please log in for more thread options I don't know about this group, but I'm losing hard drives all over the place ... 5 in one lab last week, and a brand new 160 gig SATA yesterday ... all Maxtor !!!! I ran chkdsk on 10 others, and all of them reported bad spots, but seemed to recover. Those were 40 gigers about 2 years old with one year warrantees. Word around the web is Maxtor has really cheapened their product. johns | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

allot of this comes from a couple of very old ideas and new higher power demanding systems. old idea #1 'Bang for the buck" taken to the extreme. Buying cheap cases w/PSU's is no longer a great savings. CPU / mainboard combos with the worst boards possible is another. #2 buying into State-o-the-art equipment and being the guinea pig (but then where would WE be without YOU?) Hardly the only two reasons, but from this old duffers perspective, these seem to be the two that stand out. > Has anybody noticed lately an unusual number of people in these groups
