Can anyone provide some specifics on how Elk interacts with Z-wave from a
hands on basis? Is it a primary controller, can it trigger based on
lighting events? Any experiences to relate?

Thanks

Yes.

Yes.

No. I haven't been well enough to climb up
to my attic to install my ELK-M1G yet. I hope
to be able to do it this fall. However, I've
discussed it with ELK's engineers.

You might want to check out the ELK forum.
If you don't have access let me know and I'll
get you credentials. They're very accommodating
at ELK.
