Hi all

I have an emachine 420 with a Imperial GV20030812 mobo with a power issue.
I have replaced the original PSU as it was buzzing like a pilon but the
machine still powers on sporadically even by contacting the power pins with
the drives and USB etc disconnected. The cpu fan stops spinning when it does
start. The cmos has been reset. It sporadically boots enough so I can get
into the BIOS setup and will switch off from the setup via the power switch
pins but will not power up again unless the psu is switched on and off I'm
thinking the old psu has taken out the mobo. Is there anything more likely
that could be causing this power issue?

Please advise.

Its much more likely to be a flakey motherboard, and
that wasnt produced by the original power supply,
it just went flakey, maybe due to bad caps etc.

Thanks Rod Speed.

I'll replace the mobo and test the cpu and ram on that.
