If it isn't in Device Manager, that means it is not
being detected by Windows. There is a cable that
connects the DVD drive, to the motherboard of the
laptop. A failure to see the device in Device Manager,
means the protocol that runs over the cable, is not
working for some reason.

Sometimes, on a DVD or CD drive, there are functional
problems with the drive. It may be seen in Device Manager,
but not all programs work properly with the drive. The
term to search for in your favorite search engine, in that
case, is "Upperfilters/Lowerfilters" for a Windows OS.
The fix for that problem, is to the Registry.

But in your case, it sounds more like a hardware problem.
Like a disconnected internal cable, or a hardware failure.

If you enter the BIOS, and look at the storage devices
listed in there, is the CD-DVD listed ?

Try spelling the words you want to use in your query. Ask again.
Capitalize the first person singular, and the initial words in
sentences. At least.
