Please log in for more thread options Looking at mini notebooks. Narrowed it down to these 2 Dell Mini 9 with 16 gh. ssd 4 cell battery or Acer Aspire one with 120gh. HD. 3 cell battery. The Acer is $100.00 less. | ||||||||||||||||

First of all, Use "GHz" for GigaHertz 16 GHz would be a QUITE impressive machine, but I think you forgot the decimal point. 120 GHz would be something sent from the future via a time machine. In that case I think you're talking GB (Gigabytes of hard drive capacity) | ||||||||||||||||

If everything else unmentioned is equal, which it probably isn't, I would probably spring for the Dell and the SSD. That's most likely me overvaluing the SSD's novelty and reliability. <vent>
That said, though, f*ck Dell for a year. The screwed
up an order I made with them, did not make any effort to fix it, and tried to upsell me when found out they had been lying to me about my refund being "in process." The salesperson was very nice when I was making my order, but didn't have anytime to call me back after she sent me hardware completely different than my price quote. Damn, I can't believe how perfectly they managed to piss me off by disregarding my instructions, their own promises and the evidence of their own screw ups. They get a year, maybe two, in the penalty box, and if they're still around after that, I might consider trying them again. </vent>

Oh, one more comment about netbooks: I won't be buying one without a hands-on trial of the keyboard. Perhaps I'm more sensitive than the average monkey thumb, but laptop keyboards have produced enough difficulties for me even before they were downsized to fit the slimmer profile of a netbook.
