Please log in for more thread options like my comp is possessed. Seriously. the mouse pointer goes all over the place trying to open programs and the start menu opens a couple of times and closes. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Also today when i was on for a couple of mins..the same thing happened but it was showing that it wanted to shut down. the only reason why it didn't was because it had to ask me if i wanted to log off or restart. It's pretty freaky to watch actually...but i would say it can get pretty annoying fast. so what do you say, why does this happen or does my comp need an exorcism? Oh, i do have norton all up to date, and i have a firewall...when i checked it all online it said that my comp was stealth. I ran Spybot - S&D after i checked for updates and nothing turned up. But when i unplugged the comp when it was happening it stopped. It may be a coincidence, but ya never know. Any ideas? TIA

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Virus-like backdoor software, VNC, pcAnywhere, Windows' Desktop. When it happens, unplug your system from the network connection (or USB if that's how you're networked), and <CTL><ALT><DEL> to bring up Task Manager and see what's
running.
You might also close all internet-enabled software and run netstat from a command prompt to see what's active, before you unplugged the cable. http://www.micro2000uk.co.uk/techtips/techtips_netstats.htm
