Please log in for more thread options Every now and then today, I am getting an error box saying "Microsoft Windows Search Indexer - Microsoft Windows Search Indexer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The computer also suddenly froze and rebooted itself once. I think these symptoms are related. What is the problem?

A couple of seconds after I posted these messages, I tried playing a video file - the system froze and rebooted itself. I tried playing the video file again - and the system froze and rebooted itself again. At the moment, I'm getting the "Microsoft Windows Search Indexer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." error box at intervals of maybe from 15 to 30 seconds.

I ran Disk Defragmenter, but it said it couldn't defragment some video files, one of them being the one with computer freezing and rebooting upon playback. What is wrong with these files? I have run Windows Defender scanning and AVG Free virus scanning.
