Please log in for more thread options to my PCI-SCSI card and run XP. But I can't get it to run under VISTA Ultimate that I am testing to see if I really want VISTA. I have concluded that my problem is that I cannot find a VISTA driver for the SCSI card (ADAPTEC 7850P AV 2906 Controller I think). I therefore went looking for a hopefully reasonable cable to enable me to connect the scanner to one of my USB ports. Does you guys think this would work? Anyway, I found an item on EBay: Item Title: USB 1.1 to SCSI HD50 male adapter Item Number: 140214340458 but my query to the seller about it produced this very non-sensical (to me) reply. i dont knw if it's work under vista, tested only under xp. in xp there is no driver needed, also in some cases if device do not support active termination, i will new cable and hardware terminator, and possibly scsi-to-scsi adapter too. I tested it on sony tape drive with hd68 to hd50 converter, cable and terminator. it works well! He must be non-English for sure. I would be afraid to buy his, but there may be others. If you guys think this could work, would I need a male or female SCSI end on the cable? Would my present cable have male or female ends? Would the SCSI port on my scanner be male or female? Thanks in ignorance -GECKO

Please log in for more thread options Trying such an adaptor would be a gamble at best. I suggest going for a sure thing and simply getting a scsi adaptor with known Vista support

Okay - I'll check prices and the driver complication.

Is the following your card (or close enough)? http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/support/scsi/2900/AVA-2906/ It has a Vista 32bit driver. http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/downloads/ms/ms_win_vista?productId=AVA-2906&dn=Adaptec+SCSI+Card+2906 Direct d/l, http://download.adaptec.com/scsi/windows/aic78xx_aic78u2_vista_x86_v605456.exe
