Please log in for more thread options Testing the fan on a battery should have been the first step, it don't take too much to clog them up with dust. One good test is to note if any other fans are running... ie case fans etc because this would indicate that the 12 Volt dc supply is ok. These fans usually runs from the 12 volt supply from the PSU (power supply unit for short) sometimes usually via a regulator transistor or IC on the mobo so really the PSU needs to be the next thing to check. If you could borrow an identical one just to plug and try would be dandy. We need to know if the PSU is delivering the 12 Volts DC, without a test meter the only way is to try another power supply.... but it's alright dashing out buying a new power unit if we know this is the problem, because it could easily be the mobo or 'maybe' the cpu itself especially if the fan has been stopped, but there is usually some form of protection around to prevent CPU thermal damage. It would be wise is to check that the wiring from the power unit to the mobo has'nt been disturbed... it does happen that the crimps in the molded plug become's loose or even the connectors themselves. Also while delving in there, look for swollen capacitors where the tops have 'domed', they should be nice n' flat .... and not leaking any gunge. Davy | ||||||||||
