Please log in for more thread options the one that said "Warranty Void if Removed" The label in question said PC2100. I went ahead & peeled it off & underneath, it said PC2700. Is this common practice? Why would someone labeled to make it look slower than it was? Should it work ok in a Mobo that calls for PC2700 DDR? Thanks-

Please log in for more thread options It probably failed at the 2700 speed, but passed at 2100. So the answer is no. It may well be suspect at any speed. -- Chuck F (cbfalconer at maineline dot net) Available for consulting/temporary embedded and systems. <http://cbfalconer.home.att.net>

Nope. > Why would someone labeled to make it look slower than it was?
Presumably they noticed that it didnt work reliably at PC2700 or some fool put the wrong label on it in the first place etc. > Should it work ok in a Mobo that calls for PC2700 DDR?
Quite a few will drive PC2100 ram at the correct speed if the spd says its PC2100

It's done for marketing purposes and is cheaper and easier for the mfg to just make one item than to seperately mfg two! This has been going on for years...and it's done in a lot more places than just computer parts. Although i do not know the specifics of your RAM... it's (as mentioned) possible it was simply 2700 that did not quite measure up -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com
