Nothing to do with computer hardware, I just appreciate the knowledge and
good nature in this group and I'm sure there is someone here prepared to
help me out...

Can anyone here help me with my new Tom Tom Go 300? Mine just arrived and
the system files are corrupt.

Talking the the technical support people is like talking to a 3 year old. I
know what I need, they know what I need, but their 'new' Home2 software
won't connect from either of my PCs, so I can't update the TomTom myself.
They won't email
me the system files and without non-corrupt files, the device just freezes
on startup! After a week of trying, they are now not responding to my posts
on the support forum.

The hardware works OK - USB link is all OK, SD card checks OK etc, its just
a software problem.

Can anyone out there email me the system files for the root folder of the
device (TomTom Go 300, UK version if there is a difference?). I think the 2
files that are corrupt are "System" and "TTSystem",
which are 0.5MB and 3.5MB respectively. I have googled for these files until
I am blue in the face, but can't find them anywhere, except on bitTorrent
services, which I don't trust and don't use.

Ta in advance,
GT

Help you? You have a _new_ device that does not work as advertised and have
mucked about for more than a week already. Simple procedure: Request an
RMA. Send it back. Receive a replacement. Seems pretty simple.

You would think that, but they haven't responded to my last contact
suggesting just that! This should have been sorted out within 5 minutes of
me phoning up, but no - they can't just email me the files, I have to
download and install their latest software on my PC, USB the TomTom to my
PC, then have their software update the device for me. BUT their bloody
software doesn't work either - it can't connect to their server. I really
hope they never try to organise and sort of brewery party (keeping it
clean), because they won't be able to!

Just tell your credit card company to reverse the charges... That
should get their attention.
