Please log in for more thread options I have a old computer configuration with Pentium 166 MMX and 6 GB of hardisk. This has not been of much use lately. I was wondering if there is any limit on the size of the Hard disk that can be attached to this. If I attach a recent 160GB hdd to this, will it work? Regards, Rajat

Please log in for more thread options The presumptive age of your computer suggests that it probably will not be able to see more than the first 32GB of an IDE drive. It might even be limited to 8.4GB. Identifying the BIOS and its date might give more clues. 6GB seems like plenty of storage for that machine. It's not like you're going to use it as a media center. It won't even be an acceptable web browser. What is it that you intend it to do?

I too suspect a capacity limit lower than 160GB, though a PCI ATA133 controller card might be useful to see the whole capacity and can be had fairly inexpensively.

Please log in for more thread options You ARE limited to the 6 GB harddrive with that motherboard's old BIOS.

I forget the names, but there are manufacturers of such devices, which just sit on an extra card (PCI or ISB etc.). Please do not top-post. Your answer belongs after (or intermixed with) the quoted material to which you reply, after snipping all irrelevant material. I fixed this one.
