Now Zone Alarm is blocking ie from the Internet. However, ie has all the permissions. MS Outlook works fine BTW. What else do I look for under "programs" to give permission to ie? Thanks.

Better don't use Zone Alarm and don't use IE.
Yours, VB.
But I need a spyware and firewall program to complement my dedicated anti virus. Zone Alarm Pro would do this if I could get the firewall to work! BTW, FF is too slow. IE starts faster on my machine.
Better try to configure your Windoze machine that it doesn't offer network services. If you need a host based packet filter, I think the Windows Firewall will fit.
Zone Alarm is a piece of crap, together with the rest of these infamous "Personal Firewalls".
This is comp.security.misc. Here I cannot recommend a web browser, which uses ActiveX as it's plug-in concept, and even for applet-like controls.

Was meinen Sie, und warum?
Nobody helped the poor guy.
uninstall zone alarm and re-install it again it should fix the problem
