What's the purpose of the port scans? My PFW sees about one every five seconds on the average when I bypass my router for a laptop test. If it's not attacking, I assume it's some sort of legitimate activity. Since my system (with PFW), it's apparently not essential. So why is it done?

I guess you forget to type "is working fine" or alike, which is essentially wrong because there's no known PFW which doesn't f*ck up network functionality (beside the usually useless default rules).
