NIS 2005 - Outlook 2000 & DNS Server "Security Alert"

===== ISSUE ===== Norton Internet Security 2005 is giving me the following "Security Alert" AND is recommending that I ALWAYS block connections on all ports. Does Outlook 2000 need this/Is this normal?

OUTLOOK.EXE is attempting to connect to a DNS server (24.25.4.107:53 using port 0)

========== BACKGROUND ========== O/S = Win2k Pro Patches Installed

Software = MS Office 2000 Patches Installed

========= Thanks!!! THE END =========

What a nice example of that completely braindead piece of software crap.

Internet without the dns service is not much fun, but if Norton recommends it, why not try internet without name resolution?

Personal Firewalls (especially Norton) are useless crap.

It's probably your ISP's DNS server! It's a RR IP address. That's the problem with having an IDS. You gotta know what it's telling you.
